All About Curating, in collaboration with Karne Kunst and Bardo Projektraum, invites art curators, researchers, artists, writers, creative managers, and cultural professionals to an intensive four-week residency program in Berlin.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

​

Berlin's art scene is a vibrant fusion of contemporary and historical influences, renowned for its cutting-edge galleries, dynamic street art, and thriving creative communities. Home to world-class museums and experimental spaces, Berlin is a magnet for artists and art lovers seeking innovation and inspiration in a city that celebrates artistic freedom and diversity.

The residency program is designed for all cultural professionals to explore, experience, engage, and network in Berlin’s dynamic art landscape. The four-week period is full of institutional visits, workshops, lectures, and networking opportunities with art professionals actively working in Berlin. During every institutional visit, you will be introduced to the curators, directors, or representatives of that specific institution to have an in-depth understanding of how the institution works, and how they collaborate with artworkers. etc. You can have an idea of the entire residency schedule at this link.

If you would like to pursue a career or collaborate with any individual and/or institution from Berlin and/or Germany in the future, this is an excellent opportunity for you to plant the seeds for your future endeavors. In addition to all the networking opportunities, you will be participating in workshops that will aid you with information regarding grant & funding infrastructure in Berlin and/or Germany on private, state, and nationwide scales.

Throughout the residency program, you will be developing your project, which you will be presenting at the end of the residency program in a public seminar on the last day of the residency program, on October 30th, 2024. You will receive mentorship from the organizers to develop your project. 

 

What you will receive:​

  • An in-depth & curated experience of Berlin’s contemporary art scene.

  • Networking opportunities with local and international art professionals (artists, curators, cultural managers, scholars, and others) and institutions (museums, galleries, foundations, collections, residency spaces, and others) in Berlin.

  • Intercultural dialogue with fellow participants of the program. 

  • Mentorship to develop your project sketch & share it in a public symposium at the end of the residency program. 

 

What you are responsible for:​​

  • Flight tickets (to and from Berlin/ Germany)

  • Food (Cost: 300 Euros/ per month)

  • Living costs and others (depends on the individual) 

  • Accommodation (Cost: +/- 600 Euros/ per month in a shared apartment)

  • Local Transportation costs (Cost: 49 Euros/ month)

 

What is expected from you:

  • Full Participation: Be present for the entire duration of the residency, actively engaging in all scheduled activities and events.

  • Project Development: Develop a detailed project sketch throughout the residency period, demonstrating thoughtful progress and creative exploration.

  • Final Presentation: Present your project sketch at the closing symposium during a public event, showcasing your work and insights gained during the residency.

  • Respect and Inclusivity: Maintain a respectful demeanor at all times. Discrimination, racism, or violence will not be tolerated under any circumstances. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
