Open Call for aquamediale 16 Festival
Organization
Aquamediale
Location
Spreewald, Germany
Deadline
Aug 31, 2024
aquamediale is seeking applications from artists of all genres to participate in the contemporary art festival’s 16th edition in summer 2025 in Spreewald, Germany. The thematic focus of the festival is dedicated to “biodiversity,” a term grounded in the differences and commonalities of organisms as well as the transitory nature of life. The festival aims at analyzing the factors that influence the coexistence of species and examines the effects of a disturbed balance between humans and nature. As such, it calls for artists to visualize their insights and visions in dealing with the living and dead environment.
The results of these subjective perceptions will be presented under the theme “biodiversity – everything is linked with everything” and integrated into the urban landscape of Lübben in Spreewald. A priority of the application is thus the interaction of the artwork with the environment in which it will be exhibited. For this reason, the project management will coordinate a visit to the exhibition area together with all selected artists in November 2024.
The organizers expect convincing concepts and ideas from the applicants with a commitment to the theme and surprising implementations of high artistic quality. There are no restrictions on specific materials and genres. The design concept for the realization with sizes, quantities, costs and times will be rewarded with a gross amount of €500 by the organizer, as well as fees for materials and implementation.
