Program Overview

Research to Resonance (RTR) is a three-month residency designed for artists and curators to immerse themselves in Berlin’s vibrant art scene. As an extension of Art Intensive Berlin, this program offers deep research, mentorship, and exhibition opportunities. Participants will engage with leading art professionals, access exclusive institutional visits, and develop their projects through guided mentorship. The residency culminates in a curated exhibition, providing a platform for international visibility. The participation fee includes:

  • Accommodation (private room in a shared apartment)

  • Monthly transportation card in Berlin (including overall Germany via Regional Train); 

  • Production budget;*

  • Artist Fee (Upto 3 artists / Only applicable for participants who are curators)

  • Artwork Transportation support;*

  • Full Access to month-long Art Intensive Berlin educational program;

  • Networking with Berlin Art Institutions and Artworkers

  • Year-long entry to Berlin’s State Museums, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching experience.

Program Structure

1st Month  |  Introduction & Research Phase

  • Participants will receive an in-depth introduction to Berlin’s dynamic art landscape, gaining insights into its contemporary discourse and institutional frameworks.

  • This phase includes personalized weekly mentorship sessions.

  • Guided visit to the final exhibition venue.

  • Strategic networking opportunities with key stakeholders in the local art scene. Additionally, participants will engage in independent research and project development, laying the groundwork for their curatorial or artistic practice.

2nd Month  |  Full Immersion To Berlin's Art Scene participating in Art Intensive Berlin

  • Participants will fully integrate into Art Intensive Berlin - an immersive program offering a comprehensive exploration of Berlin’s contemporary art ecosystem.

  • Through curated guest lectures, interactive workshops, thought-provoking symposiums, and exclusive institutional visits, they will deepen their understanding of curatorial and artistic methodologies.

  • One-on-one mentorship sessions will continue to provide tailored guidance throughout this phase.

3rd Month  |  Final Exhibition

  • Extended weekly mentorship sessions focused on finalizing exhibition plans, including artist selection (in the case of curators) and layout;

  • Printing invitation cards to the exhibition opening.

  • The outcome of the month for Curator: Exhibition installation and public presentation (featuring a maximum of three artists);

  • The outcome of the month for Artists: Solo Exhibition.

Participant's Responsibility

  • Program Participation Fee: €5900 (all-inclusive) / per person

  • Travel Costs: Flights/ Transportation to and from Berlin

  • Food: Approx. €300/month (varies on individual preferences)

  • Health Insurance, Living Expenses, and others.

Application Procedure

  • Select the preferred session: Spring (March-April-May) or Fall (September-October-November).

  • Fill out the Google Form provided at the top of this page to submit your application.

  • You will be notified of the result within 72 hours, informing you whether you have been selected for the program.

Tips!

  • Please do not wait until the deadline. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and continue until the position is filled. 

  • Early submissions are given priority.

  • If you require a visa to travel to Germany, we strongly encourage you to apply early so you have sufficient time for visa processing.

  • If you plan to apply for external grants and scholarships, we strongly encourage you to apply early so you have sufficient time to process the application and have a higher chance of receiving it. 

Grants, Funding & Scholarship

We regret to inform you that we do not currently offer any grants, funding, or scholarships to cover the program fee and additional costs. However, if you plan to apply for external funding opportunities, we are happy to support your application by providing relevant documents upon your selection into the program. 

All funds generated by AAC programs are reinvested into maintaining and developing our platforms, which are dedicated to decentralizing curatorial knowledge. We take pride in serving a global community of artworkers, with regular visitors from 154 countries across all continents. Our commitment is to continue fostering accessibility and knowledge-sharing within the international art ecosystem.

Terms & Conditions

  • Active Participation: Attend 80% of all program activities and events throughout the program. Under special circumstances, we accept 75% attendance in case of emergencies.

  • Project Development: Demonstrate progress and exploration as you develop your project sketch.

  • Final Presentation: Present your project at the public closing symposium on April 29, 2025.

  • Respectful Conduct: Foster inclusivity and professionalism. Discrimination, racism, or violence will not be tolerated.
