Deniz Yurtbay (b.Istanbul 1985) graduated with BA from Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey in June 2009. After graduating from her BA program, Yurtbay began working in the textile industry. She expanded her interest in textiles by attending Moda Academy in Istanbul, Turkey, London School of Fashion in London, 2011, and Fashion Institute of Technology NY in 2013. She is a self-taught artist that began painting in 2020. In her artistic process she incorporates her knowledge of textiles with a naïve painterly framework tethering these practices with her conceptual concerns related to pointing out inequalities to women and current socio-economic issues in her native Turkey.
