Introduction to Cultural Funding

This workshop examined how cultural work is sustained, tracing the structures, opportunities, and conditions that shape funding within Berlin's art ecosystem. Moving between public and private frameworks, the session offered participants the opportunity to reflect on how projects are resourced and positioned, what constitutes a compelling application, and the role that partnerships and strategic alignments can play in this process. It also considered how emerging practitioners navigate these systems with greater clarity and confidence.

Rather than offering a fixed formula, the session approached funding as a situated practice, one that called for both critical awareness and tactical precision.
