Daniela Acosta Parsons

"Art creates knowledge, and creating is a path toward understanding the unspeakable. Daniela constructs a world in which the subject lives through light, atmosphere, and the strangeness of images. She aims for the observer to recall emotions or experiences that lead to conversations about topics that are usually difficult to address: illness, pain, death, and our understanding and actions in response to these situations. She questions the production and dissemination of knowledge, what is considered legitimate versus what is overlooked; the dialogue and repair of connections with others after experiencing traumatic events.

Daniela Acosta Parsons is a Visual Artist (2016), Historian (2018), and Master of Fine Arts, Electronic Arts, and Time-Based Media (2020) from the Universidad de los Andes. She was awarded scholarships during her undergraduate and postgraduate studies and graduated with honors. She has exhibited nationally and internationally. Her practice focuses on drawing, painting, and sculpture.
