BIOGRAPHY
Alex Adkinson is an artist and academic researcher with a background rooted in experimental sound and DIY culture, and process-based approaches to art work. His practice is deeply integrated with his professional scientific research. This aspect of his work focuses on emergent digital imaging techniques and their applications in biodiversity study. He has published and presented research at institutions like Yale and the University of Florida. He holds an MFA in Studio Art from Florida State University where upon graduation he worked as an instructor of sculpture, digital art, and managed the digital fabrication lab. He has participated in residencies, including at UC-Berkeley’s Sagehen Experimental Forest, has exhibited internationally, and has work included in the Nevada Museum of Art’s archives, he is regularly exhibiting at project spaces and galleries around the US.
