BIOGRAPHY
Flynn’s creative practice examines social contexts and how they shape both their own identity and that of others. Their work is driven by a preoccupation with the inconsistencies, hypocrisies, and microaggressions that influence how we relate to one another and the spaces around us. Their process consistently involves the manipulation of social signifiers—through repetition, isolation, or recontextualisation—as a way of rigorously questioning the validity of normalised beliefs. This inquiry is often situated within the context of technology, with an awareness that the frames through which we view ourselves and our surroundings shape how meaning is understood. Central to their practice is the act of holding a mirror, a camera, a phone or a laptop up to their own life and the lives of others, using these tools to examine, and reframe lived experience.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
“MEET THEM”, is an ongoing audio-visual work which has been in development since 2022. In this project, I have repurposed livestreaming platforms as tools for self-interrogation, staging personal meetings that address the complex interior landscape of the self. For over four years, I have used the Google Meet interface as a primary medium for self-reflection, treating the laptop as a companion carried through various lived situations—from natural environments and public spaces to the privacy of my own home and bed. I have also recently turned the creative practice outward, capturing individuals from my personal life, as a means to explore fem-socialized identity politics and personal narratives. This process has generated an extensive archive of audio-visual material, which I have interpreted through various mediums including installation, video, digital stills, performance, poetry and painting. I now seek to evolve this body of work into an experimental, narrative-driven series, ready for public presentation. I am therefore seeking curatorial guidance and peer critique to help realize the work in its fullest form, ensuring a rigorous interpretation of the material in the context of an exhibition and/or performative proposal.
