Mi patria sos vos
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
As of recently, I premiered a solo performative piece called “Propia/Own” performed by actress Elena Tyrea. This piece tackles the topic of what happens when a person socialized, raised and perceived as a woman is by themselves. Exposing one possibility of what could happen after a dinner party is over.
During the development process of the performative piece, different aspects of the project came to light. One of which is its actual topic: bringing to audiences different ways and mediums from which to start conversations about being present with each other. In this moment we are living in isolating times, with how fast and virtually life is moving, this project aims to bring a different pace to look at us and our surroundings as relational beings.
The different aspects of the project is what I’m looking to develop further and clarify how they serve the overarching purpose. Until now, adding to the performative piece, I’ve started to sketch down an installation work and a participatory work. Both would be developed as performative acts but not necessarily piece’s to be performed in a theater space, unlike “Propia/Own” which was premiered in a theater. Both sketches are thought to respond directly to the aesthetic choices of “Propia/Own” which uses colored threads as the guiding motor of its dramaturgy.
