BIOGRAPHY
Katherine Grace is a Melbourne-based photographer whose work is deeply rooted in her fascination with the way light interacts with the world around her. Drawing inspiration from the fleeting beauty of everyday moments, she approaches photography as both a technical craft and an emotional language. Her practice spans across fine art, portraiture, and landscape photography, where she continually explores and experiments with different camera formats, lighting techniques, and visual styles to evoke mood and meaning.
At the heart of her work lies a focus on floral still lifes, a genre she has made distinctly her own. Heavily influenced by the lush, symbolic arrangements found in 17th Century Dutch floral still life paintings, Katherine reimagines this classical tradition through a contemporary lens. Her compositions are carefully constructed yet quietly expressive, often playing with contrast, and delicacy to evoke themes of transience, memory, and beauty.

Petals of Resistance
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
It could have the capacity to connect to Berlin's Art Ecosystem with further research and development. The project aims to imbue a more bold sense of beauty as well as to push the boundaries of the traditional symbolism of floral still-lifes into a more contemporary lens that resonates with people. "Petals of Resistance" would aim to explore resilience. Another idea/option for a project I had in mind was "Still Lives, Loud Voices" which contrasts the traditional still life with the idea that even quiet subjects can speak volumes. In a sense the series reclaims floral still lifes as a space of unapologetic expression as the arrangements are not silent nor purely decorative.
