Open Call: KZNSA Gallery 2027: Call for Exhibition Proposals

KZNSA Gallery (KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts), located at 166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, has opened its call for exhibition proposals for its 2027 exhibition calendar. Founded in 1902, KZNSA is a registered non-profit, membership-based contemporary art organisation and Public Benefit Organisation dedicated to the advancement of the visual arts, with a long history of supporting artists in KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa. The gallery is inviting proposals that challenge, question, provoke, experiment and engage, whether that means a new body of work, a group of artists brought together around a critical idea, or an exhibition that opens up an unexpected conversation.

The call is open to individual artists, collectives, curators and collaborative practices across contemporary art and related fields, and both solo and group exhibitions are welcome. Galleries, arts organisations and other art institutions may also apply. The gallery has four exhibition spaces that can be proposed individually or in combination, for a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 8 weeks. This is a venue-hire model: exhibitors pay weekly venue rates plus a once-off fee covering marketing and photography, with full details in the 2027 Information Pack (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1q82DnAqrR_ISBWigEB72SuhsHwpDnHnB).

Proposals close on 13 October 2026, and all applicants will be notified by 30 November 2026. Applications are submitted through the online form (https://forms.gle/MoV4mYM6hGiCxwRx6), which asks for the exhibition title, framework, artist biographies and CVs, supporting images, links, preferred space and period, and any technical requirements. Preferred dates cannot be guaranteed, and submitting a proposal does not guarantee inclusion in the programme.
