Open Call: Curatorial Fellowships at Akademie Schloss Solitude 2026–27

Akademie Schloss Solitude

Solitude 3, 70197 Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
22. Mai 2026

The Akademie Schloss Solitude is awarding three 10-month curatorial fellowships for the period from September 2026 to June 2027. They are looking for individuals who work independently, are capable of dialogue and culturally sensitive, and who have an interest in and willingness to participate in collaborative processes and work within the framework of an international artist residency.

The curatorial fellows are invited to independently develop their curatorial practice within the context of Akademie Schloss Solitude and to test it in exchange with international fellows. The Academy provides a space where curatorial formats can emerge at the intersection of art, science, technology, and society. The Academy understands curating in the context of an artist residency as a practice of connection and mediation that shapes and formats processes by relating people, artistic work, discourse, and the public.

Possible focus areas of the curatorial grant:
  • Formats that strengthen internal exchange and the community of scholarship recipients

  • Public events and outreach formats that make the artistic processes of the scholarship recipients visible and anchor them in the Stuttgart region and Baden-Württemberg.

  • Projects in the field of digital curation and publishing, especially in the context of the Solitude Blog

  • Events and educational formats that make curatorial questions themselves the subject matter

The aim is to develop independent projects that generate visibility both within the academy and in the region, and that forge new connections. Individual projects can be realized in consultation with the academy. Occasional participation in the academy's programming – particularly in conceptual matters and within the framework of selected events and publication formats – is welcome. Curatorial fellows work independently while maintaining conceptual coordination with the academy and receiving organizational support from the team.
