Open Call: Personal Structures 2026
DOM Art Residence
Venice, Italy
28. Februar 2026

DOM Art Residence is launching its first digital residency and invites artists from all disciplines to apply: painting, sculpture, video, photography, installation, performance, digital, or mixed media.
We will select 10 artists to take part in Personal Structures 2026, a biennial art exhibition organised by the European Cultural Centre (ECC)in Venice, Italy. The exhibition will run from May 9 to November 22, 2026, alongside the Venice Biennale, attracting over 500,000 visitors and extensive media coverage.
Residency Concept
Accepted Without Review
This digital residency challenges traditional selection systems.
We do not ask for proposals or specific formats — we accept each artist’s practice as it is.
During the residency, artists will stream live from their own studios, sharing their creative process with audiences in Venice. The live stream will be shown on a large screen inside Palazzo Bembo, one of the Personal Structures official venues.
Inside Palazzo Bembo, DOM will build a replica of a shipping container — our symbolic exhibition space.
It represents both the rigidity of institutions — closed and impenetrable — and the movement of ideas across borders, echoing DOM’s nomadic spirit.
At first, the container will be empty. Over time, as artists ship their works to Venice, it will gradually fill up — becoming an archive of time, trust, and creative freedom.
How It Works
Residency duration: 1 month per artist.
2 artists participate each month (10 in total) between May 9 and November 22, 2026.
Each artist streams their creative process live — it can include studio work, research, or daily routines related to art.
The completed artwork will then be exhibited in Palazzo Bembo, Venice.
Recommended schedule: 2 days on / 2 days off, from 10:00 to 19:00 (European time). There is flexibility for other time zones.
By the end of their residency month, each artist completes at least one work, which they ship and insure at their own expense to Venice for installation.

A 3-day stay in a hotel in Venice is fully covered by DOM, along with tickets and guided visit to the Venice Biennale, a welcome dinner, and a private tour of Venice.
