Open Call: SAIKONEON Artist Residency

SAIKONEON Artist-in-Residence

2234 Saiko, Minamitsuru-gun, Fujikawaguchiko-machi, Yamanashi Prefecture 401-0332, Japan

SAIKONEON Artist-in-Residence was established in April 2019 as a platform dedicated to  research, creation, and exchange among diverse creators who transcend disciplinary boundaries.  Situated on the serene shores of Lake Saiko in Yamanashi Prefecture, the residency offers a  rich natural environment under the majestic presence of Mount Fuji, yet remains less than  two and a half hours from Tokyo.

Since its founding, SAIKONEON has welcomed artists and designers from around the world  working across a wide spectrum of media — including painting, photography, film, visual art,  dance performance, and installation.  Our residency program accepts applications year-round.

Participants are selected by the residency’s curatorial team based not only on professional  achievements, but also on their ability to produce compelling and imaginative work — artists  whose practice sparks curiosity through originality and personality beyond career status.  Through their stay, we aim to provide artists with opportunities to deepen their creative inquiry,  research, and artistic growth, encouraging new discoveries within their practice.  At SAIKONEON, we aspire to be a place known for this shared spirit —  “something interesting always happens when you become part of this residency.”
