Curatorial Project Assistant

Whitney Museum of American Art

The Whitney Museum has an immediate opening for a part-time, temporary research curatorial project assistant to work on an upcoming exhibition examining the 1960s. The incumbent will work alongside the exhibition’s curators to realize the exhibition and publication. This is a part-time position working three days per week.Responsibilities:Assist in the planning and installation of a large-scale exhibition (correspondence, loan forms, checklists).Work on the related catalogue and other publications (obtaining images and reproduction permissions; compiling bibliographical archives and other backmatter).Assist with and write didactic labels and other copy as needed, including digital content for social media.Daily administrative support (drafting correspondence, preparation of presentations, processing invoices, and other general office and clerical duties).Coordinate information among various museum departments, including Exhibitions and Collections Management, Publications, Graphic Design, Visitor Services, Education, Marketing, Communications, and Research Resources. Also serve as liaison for curator’s external contacts, including artists, galleries, lenders, patrons, scholars.Qualifications:B.A. and 2 years work history, or equivalent experience.Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in 20th-century art history and contemporary art.Excellent writing, research, and communication skills, with attention to detail.Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Ability to work well as a member of a team.Administrative and organizational skills, including experience with TMS, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom.Compensation and Benefits:$28.57 hourly Generous PTO benefitsCommuter benefits - parking and mass transitAdmission to world-renowned museums across the city and nationallyPet insurance and discounted membership for CitibikeNot sure you meet 100% of our qualifications?
