KunstHausWien, a company of the Wien Holding, is one of Vienna’s defining cultural institutions. As Austria’s first green museum and as an exhibition venue featuring the world’s largest permanent presentation of Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s work, it connects contemporary art with ecological and social issues. With the Klima Biennale Wien, the museum also provides a strong impetus to the international discourse on art, sustainability, and transformation.
We are seeking a curatorial personality with a clear stance, an international perspective, and strategic strength, who will shape and consistently develop the program of KunstHausWien. The position combines curatorial authorship with management responsibility and active institutional design.
Your Responsibilities
Conception and realization of an independent, internationally oriented exhibition program at the intersection of contemporary art, ecology, and social transformation
Strategic development of the curatorial profile and the house’s thematic direction
Management of the exhibitions department, with responsibility for budget, personnel, and processes
Overall responsibility for exhibitions, projects, and cooperations, including the further development of the Museum Hundertwasser in coordination with the Hundertwasser Private Foundation
Building and maintaining sustainable international networks and strategic partnerships
Acquisition of third-party funding and development of long-term financing strategies
Development and editing of curatorial texts, publications, and educational formats
Representation of the house in national and international contexts
Your Profile
Completed degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Museum Studies, or a comparable qualification
Several years of experience in the conception and realization of demanding exhibitions and publications
An independent curatorial signature and strong conceptual ability
In-depth engagement with contemporary art as well as ecological and social issues
Experience in team leadership and managing institutional processes
Strategic thinking, organizational clarity, and strong implementation skills
Excellent communication skills and confident demeanor in international contexts
A robust national and international network in the arts and culture sector
Very good written and spoken German and English

For this permanent position, we offer a minimum gross monthly salary of EUR 4,500, based on 40 hours per week (paid 14 times per year), with a willingness to overpay commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is an all-in salary, including any overtime incurred.
