KunstHausWien, a company of the Wien Holding, is one of Vienna’s defining cultural institutions. As Austria’s first green museum and as an exhibition venue featuring the world’s largest permanent presentation of Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s work, it connects contemporary art with ecological and social issues. With the Klima Biennale Wien, the museum also provides a strong impetus to the international discourse on art, sustainability, and transformation.

We are seeking a curatorial personality with a clear stance, an international perspective, and strategic strength, who will shape and consistently develop the program of KunstHausWien. The position combines curatorial authorship with management responsibility and active institutional design.

Your Responsibilities

  • Strategic development of the curatorial profile and the house’s thematic direction

  • Management of the exhibitions department, with responsibility for budget, personnel, and processes

  • Overall responsibility for exhibitions, projects, and cooperations, including the further development of the Museum Hundertwasser in coordination with the Hundertwasser Private Foundation

  • Building and maintaining sustainable international networks and strategic partnerships

  • Acquisition of third-party funding and development of long-term financing strategies

  • Development and editing of curatorial texts, publications, and educational formats

  • Representation of the house in national and international contexts

Your Profile
  • Completed degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Museum Studies, or a comparable qualification

  • Several years of experience in the conception and realization of demanding exhibitions and publications

  • An independent curatorial signature and strong conceptual ability

  • In-depth engagement with contemporary art as well as ecological and social issues

  • Experience in team leadership and managing institutional processes

  • Strategic thinking, organizational clarity, and strong implementation skills

  • Excellent communication skills and confident demeanor in international contexts

  • A robust national and international network in the arts and culture sector

  • Very good written and spoken German and English

The Offer
  • A key position in an internationally renowned institution of high social relevance

  • Creative freedom for an independent curatorial signature and forward-thinking programs

  • A professional, dedicated, and collegial working environment

  • Flexible working conditions and development opportunities

  • The opportunity to actively shape the connection between art, sustainability, and public discourse

  • For this permanent position, we offer a minimum gross monthly salary of EUR 4,500, based on 40 hours per week (paid 14 times per year), with a willingness to overpay commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is an all-in salary, including any overtime incurred.

We value diversity and welcome all applications – regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/worldview, disability, age, as well as sexual orientation and identity.
